Alien Hive Dons International Colours

Inventive puzzler goes multilingual with 11 new localisations

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, September 4, 2015 – The cute extraterrestrial critters of Alien Hive continue their march towards global domination with the release of Japanese, Korean, Chinese (traditional), Chinese (simplified), German, French, Portuguese (European), Portuguese (Brazilian), Italian and Russian localisations this 4 September.

The addition of 11 new languages is simply natural progression for a developer bent on expanding its worldwide consumer base. Alien Hive joins the ranks of Lightopus, Mobfish Hunter and Sporos among Appxplore’s product line to become available to speakers of alternative mother tongues.

The freemium app blends match-three, sliding tiles and an intuitive resource management metagame into an absolutely winning combination that has enchanted puzzle enthusiasts and new converts alike. Instead of disappearing, objects evolve when arranged in rows of three. The ultimate goal is to advance the menagerie of collece Martians to their final forms via a successive series of chains. Standing in the way of victory are Naughty Bots who lock pieces in place, and caps on the number of moves that can be made. Power-ups can potentially swing the balance in the player’s favour, turning every level into a nail-biting affair where strategy and foresight weigh heavily.

Alien Hive was released in early 2013, during what proved to be a breakout year for Appxplore, having showcased its third IP to public acclaim at Casual Connect Asia – one of the region’s premier trade events – and even walking away with the award for best art.

The plaudits did not end there. Critics have also been taken in by the challenge, graphics and pure addictiveness of the intergalactic-themed brainteaser. Giving it the Editor’s Choice seal of approval, GameDynamo’s Joette Leshinski writes, “Appxplore brings us yet another fun and addicting puzzle game that is unique to any other”. Arcade Sushi’s Chris Urie was not light on praise either, cthe best puzzle game Ive played in a very long time.

A spin-off is in the pipeline, ensuring sustained interest in the original title and a steady climb from the current tally of over two million downloads.

Appxplore was acquired by Singapore-based venture accelerator Fatfish Internet Group in 2014. The takeover has injected a healthy dose of resources into the fledgling startup that is hoped to enable larger-scale projects and widen their clientele.

Fatfish has since spun off its mobile games studio investments into newly-established subsidiary iCandy Interactive Ltd, which will be listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

Alien Hive is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
